Reflection on group work

During this module. there were projects that enquired us to work in groups of five or six. I have never liked working in groups when it comes to designing. I think many young and inexperienced designers say this but i have always found it hard to share my ideas. This was something I should grow out of and these group projects did help me towards this. I should revel in the chance of working in a group and not despise it.

The first group project was named 'Democracy' and we were instructed to come up with a poster portraying democracy. As a group we brainstormed for a while and started to agree on the topic of
Africa and how corrupt politics has gone hand in hand with the countries poverty. We thought that this topic would be one that people would not be too aware of so we decided to do an informative style poster, highlighting some of the most well known cases of controversy.

However I do not feel we worked too well as a group in this project. We were all doing our own research for the majority of the task and only really came together to talk about it at the end. I felt alot more comfortable and success in the second group project named 'blackbox'. This project instructed us to come up with a promotional campaign for the company 'dorset cereals'. This was more enjoyable  due to the fact we were working better as a group and the ideas were coming from everyone in the group and everyone had something to say about the ideas we were processing.

improvements..

One of the things I was told in my brief was that the grammar didnt quite work in my original piece. So I have changed what I was told to try out and do actually think it makes the passage more effective.

War on want final crit

This is my idea to resolving the most recent brief we were given within the module of visual thinking. I had chosen the topic of sweatshop injustice to focus on and really struggled during christmas to come up with anything that would be deemed original or at least stand out. I looked into guerrilla advertising very closely and found inspiration within the broad and somewhat limitless boundaries that some companies have set in some of their campaigns. This piece of mucky material has been hand stitched by myself and, given that the setting of the ad will be at a bus shelter, ive decided to use that aspect within the message so the consumer can really relate to it.
